Is documentary filmmaking explotive by nature? It's a question producer Tom Atwood sets out to explore in a new film, "Trafficking in Reality." However, the documentary takes an unexpected turn when a young woman featured in one of Atwood's previous documentaries questions his tactics and behavior as a producer. The issues of consent and exploitation, illustrated vividly in the film's critiques of other well-known documentaries, become personal as Atwood wrestles with past ethical lapses, with his own trafficking in reality.
